The first lesson
My first AI was a yellow toy van called George.
Voice-controlled, said the box. I would announce “George, left!” and George would roll forward, turn right or stop entirely. My mother and I laughed until we could not breathe.
Four decades later, that memory still carries the useful point: technology is most valuable when it enlarges human capability rather than pretending to replace human responsibility.

I started at sixteen as an apprentice at HP in Widen, Switzerland, and spent 26 years in channel sales at HP, Fujitsu and Cisco. On 31 December 2016, a reorganisation ended that chapter and opened the next one.
Since then, I have worked as an operator and co-founder across online education, food and health technology. humAIne brings those threads together through research into business, technology and human development.
Away from the work: Swiss-British, married to an Icelander, two grown sons and a golf game that has travelled through more than a hundred courses. Summers are for Iceland.
